A Childhood Framed by the Mountains
Dhruba’s story begins in the beautiful, rural landscapes of Dhading. Growing up in the village of Khahare, his childhood window looked out onto something extraordinary: the majestic, snow-capped peaks of Ganesh Himal and Manaslu Himal. Rising so close they felt close enough to touch, these mountains were a constant, comforting presence in his early life.
He completed his early education at Shree Achane Higher Secondary School in Khahare and he moved to Kathmandu and graduated from Tribhuvan University. Even as a young boy studying in the hills, Dhruba felt a profound, unspoken bond with the natural world around him. Whether it was the quiet rustle of the forests or the immense silence of the peaks, he always found true peace and clarity in nature. The mountains were where his heart belonged.
Growing up there taught him something no guidebook can: the Himalayas are not just landscapes to admire. They are homes, livelihoods, sacred places, and communities that deserve respect.
The Vision Behind Eco Holidays Nepal
Turning his lifelong connection to the mountains into a career, Dhruba began as a licensed trekking guide. Spending years leading international adventurers across Nepal's most challenging terrain taught him invaluable lessons that no classroom could offer: precise route planning, reading unpredictable mountain weather, prioritizing client safety, and delivering genuine local hospitality. Years of guidance gave Dhruba a close view of Nepal's tourism industry, the very best of it, and its shortcomings too. He saw how thoughtful, responsible travel could support local families, protect fragile mountain environments, and keep culture alive for generations. He also saw journeys that felt rushed and impersonal, disconnected from the very people and places that make the Himalayas so meaningful.
That contrast planted a simple, lasting belief: tourism should leave both travelers and local communities better than it found them.
In 2018, that belief became Eco Holidays Nepal not just a company to organize treks, but a way to share Nepal the way Dhruba has always experienced it: as home, not as a destination.

He is also the Founder of Nepal Recreation, a government-registered travel company offering tours, trekking, and vehicle rental services across the country, built on the same principles of responsible, eco-friendly tourism and local employment.
And he is Co-Founder of Hotel Cozy Heaven, a beautiful, welcoming hotel in the heart of Thamel, Kathmandu, a short walk from the city's UNESCO World Heritage Sites and minutes from Tribhuvan International Airport, offering travelers a comfortable, genuinely local home base before and after their journey into the mountains.
